About the Singer-Songwriter

Born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, Gray Gurkin started writing and performing his original songs at the age of 16 in local coffeehouses. He expanded his songwriting skills playing his unique blend of Pop Rock in local bands during the 90’s. After college he made a living as a solo acoustic act on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. From there he headed down to Atlanta, Georgia, joining forces with the vibrant acoustic community. During the late 90’s Gray was heavily influenced by Americana Roots Music and decided to move to Austin, Texas to pursue his music. Gray performed often with his band "Hubcap Fetish" on Austin's known 6th Street and also recorded an Acoustic CD titled “Six Pack”. Gray moved back to his home town in 2002 and has been very involved in the songwriting side of the music business including hitting the Nashville song writers scene.
In 2008 Gray jumped back in the ring as an artist by forming "The Lost Souls". The release of the full length CD titled Horseshoes and the EP Barflies kept this original Americana Cowboy Rock band very busy 2008-2011. This was all possible by the talented musicians that supported the project. In 2011 Gray turned back to his Acoustic scaled down sound. Given the new direction Gray decided to move on from the TLS marquee he had been performing under.
For the new year Gray Gurkin will continue on his singer/songwriter "Acoustic" side of the music spectrum. He is working on his new Acoustic CD which he hopes to release in 2012.
