About the Singer-Songwriter

Born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, Gray Gurkin started writing and performing his original songs at the age of 16 in local coffeehouses. He expanded his songwriting skills playing his unique blend of Pop Rock in local bands during the 90’s. After graduating college he made a living as a solo acoustic act on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. From there he headed down to Atlanta, Georgia, joining forces with the vibrant acoustic community. During the late 90’s Gray was heavily influenced by Americana Roots Music and decided to move to Austin, Texas to pursue his music. Gray performed often with his band "Hubcap Fetish" on Austin's known 6th Street and also recorded an Acoustic CD titled “Six Pack”. Gray moved back to his home town in 2002 and has been very involved in the songwriting side of the music business including hitting the Nashville song writers scene.

In 2009 Gray jumped back in the ring as an artist by forming "The Lost Souls". The release the full length CD titled Horseshoes has kept this originial Americana Pop Rock band very busy.

Songwriting News !!!

July 2009:
Gray received the Honorable Mention Award from the 16^th annual Billboard World Songwriting Competition for his Pop/Rock song “MATCHBOOK”. This song is also featured on THE LOST SOULS CD, Horseshoes (release date July 31st 2009). www.thelostsoulsva.com

He also received the Honorable Mention Award from the 16^th annual Billboard World Songwriting Competition for his inspirational song "Miracle".

In 2007 Gray received honorable mention in the international John Lennon Songwriting Contest for his song “Show Me The Way” in the Gospel/Inspirational category. This highly respected contest has thousands of entries which is open to both amateur and professional songwriters. It is quite an honor!
